Did you know that if you are in Christ, a Christian, that God sees you with no blemish. Oh no, you might say, I have many faults and blemishes. Yes, we all do from a human perspective, but God sees us from a different point of view.
The scriptures reveal Jesus is coming back for a glorious, spotless, and blemish free church. “that He (Christ) might present her (us)to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:27
Someone may say, “I probably won’t be ready for Jesus coming. I’m far from any of those qualities and most likely will never be spotless and free from blemishes.” If we are relying on ourselves to qualify, we are all on shaky ground. But if we are relying on the precious and spotless blood of Jesus to make us without spot or wrinkle, then we can be assured all is well between us and God.
The church of Jesus will never be perfected or even fully mature on its own. First of all, there are always new Christians who are still in a babyhood state. If we have to depend on their maturity to be ready for Jesus coming then we will be perpetually waiting because many people are being saved around the world every day. And then just because someone has been saved a long time doesn’t mean they have matured spiritually. So, we can’t depend on the church ever becoming blemish free by its own merit or maturity.
The good news is the only way we can be spotless, glorious, and without blemish is by the blood of Jesus and the finished work of His cross. Yes, we all should be growing in the knowledge and wisdom of our Lord and our life needs to reflect the Word of God, but please know that our acceptance before God is solely based on the work of Jesus and our entrance to our eternal home can only be attained by complete trust in Jesus’ blood that washes us from all sins.
So… there is no blemish in you because of Jesus. That is how God sees you and you will do yourself a great favor if you see yourself the same way. Stop beating yourself up for your failures and agree with God’s assessment of you. If your do, your life will start to reflect the same!
