“If only I can become good enough to quality for God’s favor and goodness in my life, I know things will turn for my benefit.”
This nagging thought haunts many people, even Christians. They struggle to earn God’s favor not realizing that Jesus’ struggle at the cross is their qualification for God’s blessings in and on their lives. Jesus dealt with sin, guilt, condemnation, shame, and all their relatives at the cross so we can be free from the struggle of trying to earn forgiveness, peace, joy, favor, and all their relatives.
Our qualification for God’s highest and best is not in what we did or do but in what Jesus already did and does for us.
In the Old Testament, under Moses Law, they had to do something to be blessed. Today, under God’s convent of Grace through Jesus’ finished work at the cross, we believe something to be blessed of God. What do we believe? That through Jesus, God’s Grace is given on our behalf to bring victory in every area of life.
Grace means undeserved, unearned, unmerited favor from God. That’s why we see in the Bible that Jesus could easily save, heal, and deliver those who’s lives were a mess. They knew on their own merit they were disqualified. Their disqualification was their qualification to receive from Jesus all they needed.
Those who supposedly have it all together, like the religious pharisees of Jesus day, could not receive from Jesus because they thought they had to qualify on their own merit. They thought that their own self-righteousness was their qualification for God’s favor and goodness. But the truth was and still is that none of us are good or righteous enough on our own to earn His blessings.
We must believe that we our righteousness (right standing with God) is only because of Christ’s redemptive work at Calvary’s cross. And if that’s the case, and it is, then we are blessed and favored based on that truth NOW.
Know and believe that if you have acknowledged Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you are in God’s favor NOW. Not some day when you are good enough. No! Jesus’ shed blood for you at the cross made you more than good… it put you in right standing with God. He sees you clean and therefore His favor and blessings are yours NOW.
Don’t wait! Step into His favor! Accept and believe that you have unearned, undeserved, and unmerited favor with God at this very moment. Just say thank you Lord for your favor and blessings in my life right NOW… today and everyday through Jesus! Then watch God pour out His amazing favor and blessings on you!
