“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.” Hebrews 12:1
As Christians we all have a race to run that God has set before us. We each have our own life of faith to live according to the plans He has specifically designed for us. It’s tempting to look at the race that others are running and start to compare our life, family, or ministry to someone else, but we need to say NO to this and stay on course.
According to this scripture, our race can be frustrated by carrying weights like stress, worries, or fear. Also, pet sins can slow down the divine purposes of our lives. God says we can strip all of these things off and look completely to Jesus to help us run at full capacity.
Impatience can be a big hinderance in our lives. Our culture seems to want everything right now. But with God it is a race of endurance. Without endurance you can not go far regarding the kingdom purposes of your life. You must be patient and allow God to develop your gifts and character. This race is not the 100 meter dash but rather a 26 mile marathon, so to speak. In other words, it will take a life time to finish your course or purpose.
There may be others who run with you but their race is not exactly like yours. You are made with a unique purpose. ”Strip off every weight that slows you down, especially the sin that trips you up” and run your race with endurance knowing God is taking you on a journey for His glory and purpose. If you will do this you will finish your race with joy and have a satisfied life of destiny from God.
